„Der lustige König“ ist ein Märchen, das von der Ödnis eines sorgenfreien Daseins handelt, von der Angst vor dem Altern, von der Einsamkeit. Der König sucht verzweifelt nach Antworten, nach dem Geheimnis des Glücks. Er ist der König, er hat alles. Die Kämpfe seines Lebens hat er hinter sich. Aber nun liegen noch all die Jahre vor ihm, und er fragt sich, was zu tun sei…
The King wakes up after a long and deep sleep, but doesn´t know what to do with all the time he has. Hoping to find an answer he assembles an automaton, but in vain, because the wheel of time follows its own rules. In this bizarre fairy tale, the decomposition of organic matter, oxidized metal and cracked surfaces visually underline a cryptic puppet animation that circles like a helicoid around the main theme.
